Great News

The Local is back online after a short break due to technical difficulties(I got booted off my old server and someone graciously gave me some space on a new server). I have completely redesigned my personal website and honestly it looks no different than it did before I changed the site other than it has no flash and no music at the start up. I have been trying to find more ways to make the site more interactive and would love any input you may have. I will from time to time have stories(more like links to stories) about what is going on in the area on the local music scene by searching the web and adding content via this blog.

The first story everyone should know about already was the closing of Ziggy's at the end of November. We all know how instrumental Ziggy's has been in bringing local and national music acts to the Triad. I can't tell you how many times I made the epic journey to WS to check out a show at Ziggy's. Lets get one thing straight, I am not a news journalist. So as I find the information I will simply add a link so you can enjoy the real journalistic abilities from the reporters who do it for a living. I simply just want to be a go between offering links on "whats happening" in the area.
So click here for the link.

October 9, 2007

New content is coming soon. I have been looking for some good music coming to the area for the fall. I checked out Ziggy's site and I honestly had only heard of a few of the bands. I haven't checked out what's going on in the 'boro this week. I don't think High Point even has an original music seen. If you would like to me to post a date for your band just drop me a line and I would be happy to add it to one of my post. Otherwise, keep rocking and support local music.

Episode #6

This episode was recorded in the new house. After months of silence this was my big comeback. Not really. This episode was mearly a 'information only' type podcast. If your not into playing guitar or music, you probably won't want to listen to this episode. Click here to listen.

Episode #5

My brother Rik has always been a metal head. Since we were kids his collection of cassettes and records(cds didn't come out until we were teens) included bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Queensryche, Judas Priest, and many others. Avalon Again looked like, sounded like, and smelled like a real kick ass heavy band. Click here to listen.

Episode #4 Holiday Edition

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketSeveral years ago at Maxx Production Jason and I worked on some traditional Christmas music. Recording songs of the past turned out to be a challenging project. The most difficult thing for us to do was to figure out how we could finish playing Desert Storm II and Conflict Global Terror while recording the cd. We spent 12 to 14 hours a day strung out on sugar and caffeine just so we could finish the game and work on the cd(Xbox was a very important part of our inspiration). The cd is not available for purchase nor does it have a name. It was at least a month of grooling work. It was tuff, but someone had to do it.

Episode #2

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Today's episode is with my good friend Jason Franco. We go way back. We have played in several different bands together that include Tinman, Luvwig, and Travel. If you listen to the beginning of the podcast you hear us talk about former band mate Joey Barnes who is now drumming in the band Daughtry. When this podcast was recorded, we had no idea that he had been signed by the band. Click here to listen.

Episode #1

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket In October of 2005 I began writing first solo music project entitled Peace. I had several bumps along the way which included deleting several vital music files, singing off key, and writer's block. Click here to listen.

New Look

Welcome to the new home page of The Local. For months I have been going back and forth in my mind if I wanted to continue with The Local podcast. I felt like if I created a simpler look and different approach I would be motivated to continue recording and getting out into the Triad and meeting new groups. Over the next couple of weeks I will come up with a plan on redirecting my feed through Blogger and using it for a simple, straight forward approach to the show. If you are an artist interested in being on the show click here to submit your information. Please feel free to leave a comment and let me know you stopped by the page.
